I have known Easter since I started my first photography studio in 2007 when she called me to shoot her Maui Hawaii wedding, I was so excited. She told me they would be getting married at the Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea. Easter used to own the kid’s gym next door to my studio and now owns an Archery Range by my new studio. We seem to keep running into each other. Matthew (her fiance) was a professional archer and she told me some of the guests coming were on the Olympic archery team. Needless to say — I WAS STOKED! Also, I have never been to Maui, let alone shot a wedding in Maui Hawaii.

Welcome to Maui Hawaii

Everything I have heard about Hawaii is true. As soon as I landed in Maui I realized the airport was outside! And it seemed like everybody except me was wearing swim trunks. They handed me a lei the second I left the airport. I knew that I was in heaven! The person at the rental car place convinced me I needed a jeep instead of the car that I rented. (Rookie mistake on my part… all of the tourists get jeeps.)

Just my luck there was a pig roast at the Four Seasons hotel the day I arrived.

The Wedding

Imagine your perfect wedding… this was it. 5 Star hotel… macadamia nut cookies on the table of my hotel room every morning. Employees just walking around serving some sort of delicious lemonade drink. 4 different pools and 2 bars at each pool. To be honest I knew then that Maui is somewhere I wanted to live, or at least shoot more Maui Weddings.

Surprise Helicopter Ride

For the day after portraits, I joked around with Easter that if we had a helicopter we could go to cooler places. Well, the next morning Easter called and told me the helicopter is leaving at noon. I WAS SHOCKED! I cannot even tell you how cool it was to be able to take a helicopter to any location we wanted on the island.
