PageantHeadshots
(that's actually fun to read)
Plus titleholders across Miss America, Mrs., and other systems.
Your headshot
won't win the
pageant.
No photo ever has. It just introduces you to the judges before they meet you.

What wins is your personality.
So relax, have fun, and bring something fun to wear if you want.

Two quick
decisions
Candid or posed?
Classic and polished, or loose and natural, your call.
Indoor, outdoor, or both?
Studio, on location, or a mix, let's talk it through.

Bring more
than you think
Solid colors photograph best (skip busy patterns and plaid).
Look for an interesting neckline, nothing too plunging.

The outfit that surprises everyone is usually the winner.
Getting
ready is
half the show
Crown on, hands up, big laugh, this is the energy we're chasing before the camera even comes out.

(more behind-the-scenes shots coming soon)
No
highlighter.
Seriously.
This is the #1 thing that trips up a session. Shimmer and highlighter bounce flash straight back at the camera and read as shine, not glow. If you show up with it on, fixing it in retouching is an extra charge.
Go matte, especially cheeks and nose.

Don't take my word for it, take Beyoncé's makeup artist's.
Sir John says the same in L'Oréal's guide to makeup for photos →
A little
planning first
Hair/makeup at the studio?
Set it up in advance, not day-of. Need a recommendation? Call me.
Reference photos
Send me what you love beforehand, Pinterest, IG, email, whatever's easiest.
Social impact initiative shoot?
Call or email ahead so we can plan it right.
Running late or something's up?
Just call. I'm easygoing, I just need to know, especially if I've got another session right after yours.

Bring
- Crown and sash
- Outfit and jewelry options (see above)
- A steamer if you can. We try to have one at the studio, but not guaranteed on location
Beauty timing
- Get nails done ahead of time, fixing them in retouching costs extra
- Fix tan lines weeks before your session, not the week of
- No spray tan or hair dye the day before, if it goes wrong, it shows
- Skip the boat trip the weekend before. A sunburn doesn't have time to fade and can't be fixed in editing
